2009 All-Beltway Swimming Coach of the Year
Van Tassell guided the Bulldogs to the overall Metros title, combining male and female scores. The girls swim team ended Good Counsel’s 12-year run atop Metros and the boys squad won its first divisional and county championships. It was all done with a young, deep team devoid of any superstars.
